Never Let Me Go by Kazou Ishiguro
About the Author:Kazou Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan in 1954. He moved to England as a child 1960, and has been living there ever since. He currently lives in London with his wife and daughter. Never Let Me Go is his sixth and most recent novel, published in 2005, followed by his first short story collection in 2009, Nocturnes: Five Stories of Music and Nightfall.
About the Book: Never Let Me Go is narrated by 31-year old Kathy. As a child, Kathy attended a sheltered boarding school in the British countryside, Hailsham. Some of her old school mates, Ruth and Tommy, have now come back into her life and she begins to reflect upon their childhood together at school - filled with mystery and constant reminders of how special they all were. As she looks back at their past, she begins to realize what, exactly, made them all so special.
Never Let Me Go is now being created into a film, directed by Mark Romanek. It has already been premiered in the USA on September 3, and is on its way to England in October. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in Singapore in January 2011.
